Responsibilities: Creating and dessiminating information about genetic conditions and building relationships between national leaders in the disability and medical communities; creating the KentuckyWorks website and other related printed and online materials.

Experiences: Author of nationally-recommended “Understanding a Down Syndrome Diagnosis” and other diagnosis books about genetic conditions and Co-Author of “Diagnosis to Delivery: A Pregnant Mother’s Guide to Down Syndrome” and “Welcoming a Newborn with Down Syndrome: A New Parents’ Guide.” Also the Assistant Editor for Patricia E. Bauer’s Disability News and Commentary blog.

Reason: I have a teenage son with Down syndrome who shaped my professional direction when I became his mom at 23 years old.

Research: Impact of non-invasive prenatal screening on disability populations, the quality of life for people with different genetic conditions and psychosocial resilience, and quality assessments of educational tool and resources for medical providers delivering prenatal and postnatal diagnoses.
