Experiences: Deborah J. Hendricks, Ed.D. is the Director of the Center for Disability Inclusion (CDI) in the College of Education and Human Services at West Virginia University (WVU). Dr. Hendricks has worked at WVU since 1979. She held a number of positions during the 1980s with the West Virginia Rehabilitation Research and Training Center. At present, she is the Principal Investigator and Director for the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) project, which is operated by the CDI. JAN is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment policy (ODEP) and is a national technical assistance program. JAN provides customized, expert information regarding accommodations for people with disabilities in the workplace as well as disability-related legislation (e.g., the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act). Dr. Hendricks was involved in the establishment of JAN at WVU and was one of the first JAN employees when the project began operations in September, 1983. As a Service Associate Professor at WVU, she has taught both undergraduate and graduate-level statistics courses for more than 20 years. Her courses include Business Research and Multivariate Statistics for the School of Business and Economics, as well as Introduction to Research, Statistics 1, Statistics 2, and Multivariate Statistics in the College of Education and Human Services. Dr. Hendricks has her doctorate in Educational Psychology, with a Master’s degree in Statistics and a BSS (Bachelor of Science with Specialization) degree in Statistics.
