HDI 50th Anniversary Spotlight on Christy Leaver

HDI provided stability to me through several rough life transitions as a single parent and student. Exposure to mentors, exposure to diversity, and the development of long-term friendships have had a significant impact on my life. —Christy Leaver, LCSW, Former HDI Research Assistant and Certificate Student

How did you come to know HDI?

I was a research assistant at HDI throughout my graduate school experience at UK.

How long have you been with HDI and what is your role?

I was with HDI for four years; as an RA assisting in compiling the Resource Guide for Persons with Disabilities, the completion of a Certificate in Developmental Disabilities, and the Kudos Jar!

Looking back, can you please share with us a fun or fond moment you had at HDI?

Looking back, there are too many fond moments to mention. HDI provided stability to me through several rough life transitions as a single parent and student. Exposure to mentors, exposure to diversity, and the development of long-term friendships have had a significant impact on my life.

Do you have any advice you would like to share with current and future staff and students at HDI?

My only advice to current and future staff and students at HDI is to keep up the great work!
