HDI CATS LOGO

HDI Center for Assistive Technology Services (CATS) is the regional Assistive Technology Regional Center (ATRC) serving Lexington and the surrounding region. The objective of HDI CATS is to provide statewide comprehensive assistive technology (AT) activities in accordance with the federal Assistive Technologies Act of 1998, as amended. AT is any item or piece of equipment (both low-tech and high-tech) used to improve and/or maintain independence in the home, at work, school or play.

Our mission is to ensure Kentuckians with disabilities have access to assistive technology (AT). We will accomplish our mission by offering demonstrations and providing loans of assistive devices to individuals and families in the Bluegrass. We also train professionals, communities, and students, thus furthering the reach and impact of our work. This is in keeping with our vision to work toward enabling persons with disabilities to live independent lives in the communities of their choice with the necessary supports and services.

HDI CATS is a member of the Kentucky Assistive Technology Services (KATS) Network, which serves as the Assistive Technology Act Program for the State of Kentucky and whose mission is to make AT information, devices and services easily obtainable for people of any age and/or disability.

HDI CATS offers:

  • Lending library of AT devices for checkout
  • Demonstration of devices and categories of AT throughout our region
  • Training opportunities around AT and relevant legislation such as the ADA
