Session description: This didactic presentation has been created and will be presented from a two-discipline perspective including Occupational Therapy and Psychology. A panel discussion will follow the didactic presentation. Self-regulation, the ability to manage energy levels, emotions, actions and attention, is a key developing skill for individuals of all ages and contributes significantly to individuals’ life choices as well as to their relationships at work, home, and community. People in the disability community may be especially interested in considering the impact of self-regulation on their lives as well as contributing factors of attention, information processing, behavioral rehearsal, problem solving, and societally driven beliefs and experiences related to their own learning capabilities and rights.
