Gilson Capilouto, PhD
Dr. Gilson Capilouto is professor emerita at the University of Kentucky in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Fellow of the American-Speech-Language Association. She holds certification in neurodevelopmental treatment and the Neonatal Oral Motor Assessment Scale. In addition to NICU clinical work and research, Gilson advises and teaches in the graduate Communication Sciences and Disorders program at UK as well as UK’s interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Sciences doctoral program. Her clinical research focuses on infant and pediatric feeding and swallowing. Her current research protocols measure early sucking performance in infants at risk for feeding difficulties with the goal of strengthening the evidence base for infant feeding practice. Dr. Capilouto is co-founder of NFANT Labs, LLC and co-inventor of technology used to study infant feeding.
