Kathy Sheppard-Jones, PhD
Systems change and research projects across the Institute
Responsibilities: As Executive Director at HDI, I am responsible for leading the Institute in pursuit of our mission to improve the inclusion, independence, and contributions of people with disabilities and their families across the lifespan. I oversee our core funding as a University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities and work across projects around employment, health and wellness, home modifications, universal design, quality assurance, community inclusion, and driver rehabilitation.
Kathy Sheppard-Jones, PhD, CRC is the Executive Director of the University of Kentucky Human Development Institute, Kentucky’s University Center on Disability. She has worked in the field of rehabilitation for the past 25 years, with an emphasis on systems change and community building through participant and data drivers. Dr. Sheppard-Jones leads 250 staff working on projects around inclusion with an emphasis of people with disabilities. She is the Lead Administrator for Employment First in Kentucky and collaborates with state agencies, employers, and communities. Dr. Sheppard-Jones also serves on the University of Kentucky Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Team and teaches in the UK College of Education.
