DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Katia Albanese; Founder and Principal\, Kappa Strategies \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: By the end of this session\, participants will be able to:  \n\n\n\nInternships and apprenticeships offer valuable opportunities for people with disabilities to explore career options while gaining practical skills and meaningful work experience. Yet these pathways are often underutilized by vocational rehabilitation (VR) professionals and the individuals they serve. \n\n\n\nThis session will explore how VR professionals can leverage internships and Registered Apprenticeship Programs to expand career pathways for people with disabilities. Drawing on national trends and innovative state approaches\, the presentation will highlight policies and practical strategies that connect individuals with disabilities to employers and high-demand careers. \n\n\n\nParticipants will learn how to identify opportunities within their states and strengthen partnerships with workforce and apprenticeship systems\, positioning VR as a valuable partner in developing disability-inclusive talent pipelines. \n\n\n\n\nIdentify internship and apprenticeship opportunities that support career exploration and skill development while advancing competitive integrated employment for people with disabilities.\n\n\n\nExamine state policies and innovative workforce initiatives that expand access to internships and Registered Apprenticeship Programs\, including opportunities for public-sector employment. \n\n\n\nApply practical strategies for strengthening partnerships between VR agencies and workforce development systems\, with an emphasis on engaging employers to create more inclusive career pathways.\n\n\n\n\nOnline Zoom Session: Register for Learn at Lunch
