The Department for Medicaid Services (DMS) will provide an overview of Kentucky’s 1915 (c) Home-and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Medicaid waivers and the services they provide for people with disabilities. The process from applying for waivers\, to service delivery options\, and Medicaid waiver resources available to guide the process will also be discussed.   \n\n\n\nObjectives:  \n\n\n\n1. DESCRIPTION:According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)\, approximately 23% of American adults experience some form of mental illness (or psychiatric disability) on a yearly basis. And across the population\, almost 6% of American adults live with a serious mental health condition such as schizophrenia\, bipolar disorder or long-term recurring major depression. For many individuals with psychiatric disabilities\, work is key to their health and contributes to a sense of purpose and wellbeing. Following a data driven discussion of post school outcomes for youth with disabilities in Kentucky\, presenters will highlight ways for improving outcomes for youth with disabilities in employment\, education\, and health care. In addition\, resources and information for youth with disabilities\, family members\, and professionals will be identified. \n\n\n\nCRC credits are approved in Rehabilitation Counseling.
