Presenters: Jordan Phemister, PLA, ASLA, is a Lecturer in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Kentucky. Ryan Hargrove, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Kentucky.

Learning Objectives: Presenters will share key concepts of universal design and accessibility and describe the profession of landscape architecture and its role in the design of outdoor spaces. They will share examples of improving accessibility on the University of Kentucky campus, as well as regional and local landscape architecture projects that demonstrate universal design principles with a focus on children’s play environments. Presenters will conclude with a look ahead at the challenges and opportunities of creating more inclusive outdoor spaces.
