Oh, the Places You’ll Go! – Transportation access in Kentucky

Learning Objectives: Session description: A panel of Kentuckians with disabilities will share their approaches to accessible transportation. Discussion topics will include driver training, adaptive driving equipment, public transit, paratransit, rideshare, and other options. Panelists will share troubleshooting tips and respond to questions about transportation advocacy at the individual and state levels in Kentucky. The panel will be moderated by Maria Kemplin, project director of the Transportation Initiative, a project of the Commonwealth Council on Developmental Disabilities and the University of Kentucky’s Human Development Institute. Objectives: • Identify at least 4 transportation options utilized by Kentuckians with disabilities. • Recall regulations and strategies to improve rider experience in Kentucky. • Differentiate how transportation options vary across Kentucky. • Appraise the need for transportation options embedded within Kentucky communities.
